How To Make 2013 Your Best Year Yet

At the end of each year I review the year and take time to plan the coming year with God. I've done this for many years now and always feel energized, motivated and inspired as a result. If you want to make sure you actually achieve what you believe the Lord has put on your heart to do you might want to follow my example.

Today's Coaching Moment - How To Make 2013 Amazing

Set time aside to ponder and answer the following questions, then set specific goals and create a detailed step by step plan.

1. What were my biggest achievements in 2012

   What did I accomplish?
   When you notice and celebrate your achievements it's motivating.

2. What were my biggest disappointments?

   Talk them over with God, forgive, and let go.

3. What lessons did I learn?

   Turn these lessons into guidelines for the coming year.

4. How have I limited myself?

   What has it cost me?
   In what way have I benefited from limiting myself?
   

5. What are my main personal values?

   What's most important to me?

6. What roles do I play?

   What 'hats' do I wear?
   How do I express my values in each of these roles?

7. What roles will I make a priority in 2013?

8. What are my goals for each of my roles?

   Make sure these are things you really want to do rather than 'should' or 'must'.

9. What are my top ten goals for 2013?

   Select the ten goals that will make the most difference.
   Be specific and write your goals in detail.

10. How will I make sure I actually achieve my goals?

    Who do I need to become?
    What daily habits do I need to commit to?
    What do I need to STOP doing to make room for my goals?
    Who do I need to draw alongside to help me?

Make a one page summary of your goals and put it somewhere you will be sure to see it.

Carve out time in your schedule to review your goals and make adjustments to help you keep on track.

Make yourself accountable to someone for achieving your goals.
This is crucial to your success.
