If the Lord has been nudging you to do something, I encourage you to consider stepping out in faith even though you may not have much evidence.

By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. "They looked all over and couldn't find him because God had taken him." We know on the basis of reliable testimony that before he was taken "he pleased God." It's impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him. Hebrews 11: 5-6 MSG

A month ago as I sat in the garden sipping tea and spending time with God, I distinctly heard Him ask, "Why have you got the house on the market?"

"You know why. Tim's been out of work for 2 years, we've run out of options, it's the sensible thing to do..."

And there lay the problem. Selling our home might seem sensible given the circumstances, but neither of us felt comfortable about selling the house we believed the Lord had given to us. It didn't seem right to sell, yet we had put our house on the market because there didn't seem to be any other option... surely if the Lord wanted us to stay He would provide what we needed to make it possible.

Our home had been on the market for nearly 5 months and not one person had been to view even though it was a very desirable property. Not one. We had been expecting a possible cash buyer a month earlier but he didn't keep the appointment to view because he was rushed into hospital with pneumonia. Apart from that no one had viewed our home or attempted to make a silly offer.

I knew we had to take action on what I sensed the Lord was saying even though given our circumstances it seemed unwise.

My husband agreed that we should take the house off the market, even though our circumstances hadn't changed, and trust the Lord to make a way where there didn't seem to be a way.

In our experience God's ways nearly always seem to have a 'just in time' approach, He often asks us to trust Him even when circumstances say it's time to bail out.

God had spoken clearly and confirmed what I heard, so we instructed the estate agent to take our house off the market, and prepared to be misunderstood, knowing that some people would think we were foolish and might misunderstand our actions.

Within the next week, two people enquired about buying our house, we took delight in telling them they were too late because it was no longer on the market. It seemed as though the Lord had blinded people's eyes to our home until it was no longer available!

Tim also received a job offer that week, though the start date has been put back 3 times and he won't be starting work until 8th June. In the meantime the Lord continues to move people to support us financially and everything is taken care of one way or another. Our missionary friends still get to live with us when they're on furlough, and our children are delighted that we're staying put.

Now that we're no longer living in a holding pattern life is so much more peaceful. It's easier to focus on what really matters and we're no longer spending time doing fruitless things.

The Lord reminded me that we overcome through faith and patience, by pressing in, believing even though, and not giving up.

Hold on to what God has promised, don't let go, push through, determined to see His promises come to pass. Keep on praying, keep on contending. Expect to receive the fullness of what God is saying and what He has promised to do.
