What stops you from getting started? Could it be that you are allowing fear or discouragement stop you from pursuing your dreams?

It's time for you to get on with your life and pursue your dreams and goals!

If fear and discouragement are at work in your life, the chances are that your dreams are on hold. Left unchallenged, fear will immobilise you and keep you from ever pursuing your destiny.

Fear

The spirit of fear carries torment with it. Left unhindered it will stop you from acting in faith. God hasn't given you a spirit of fear, He has given you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Discouragement

Discouragement or lack of courage interferes with faith and can eventually cause you to lose hope.

Hope is the foundation of your faith

"Faith is the confident assurance that what you hope for is going to happen."

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick."

What happens when you give in to fear and discouragement?

When you give in to fear or discouragement and you continually put your dreams on hold, it makes you heart sick. Once you stop believing that your dreams are possible you begin to lose heart, and let your dreams go.

I dreamed of writing from a very young age and first thought of creating a website many years ago. I kept on waiting for everything to fall in place - time, money, expertise, opportunity. I waited for inspiration and convinced myself that the time wasn't right. I thought I was waiting on God, but the truth is that fear of failure held me back for years. A series of difficult circumstances eventually gave me a big enough prod to push past fear and began to take action and make my dreams a reality.

How I Overcome Fear and Discouragement

I dared to share my dreams and goals with a coach and carefully chosen mentors and found the practical guidance I needed to help turn my dreams into reality.

I had preciously shared my dreams with the wrong people. Once I found knowledgeable people who were prepared to question, challenge, support, and hold me accountable, I began to move forward.

"Without wise leadership, a nation falls; with many counselors, there is safety."

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you"

I spent time with God and He helped me to develop a strategy that helped me to accomplish my goals one step at a time.

I found godly mentors who helped me to implement my plans and before long I was doing far more than I could have imagined when I first began.

I couldn't have done it without the help of people who held me accountable, helped me to face the fear and do it anyway, kept me on track, and helped me to keep going when the going got tough.

It took prayer, support, and a lot of hard work. When I look at what I have done, I am amazed.

"It is a pleasure to see dreams come true."

From time to time I have to battle against fear and discouragement. I remind myself of what God has already enabled me to do, find the help I need, and keep on taking the steps one at a time.

I have more dreams that I believe God has put in my heart. I am updaing a book, planning new courses, creating new websites and developing new strategic alliances. The more I step out and trust God to help me with the dreams and desires he planted in my heart, the more I see amazing answers to impossible situations and the more confident I become that I can do all that God has given me to do with His help.

I am growing in confidence in God and in myself, I know that God is with me, and that if I step out in faith and make a mistake, He will cover it.

God helps you to learn from your mistakes, AND He helps you to turn your mistakes into stepping stones if you let Him.

I pray that you will be encouraged to take your dreams off the shelf, dust them down and start moving towards your destiny.

I strongly encourage you to stir up the gifts that God has given you, dare to resurrect your dreams and believe and hope that God will do what He has promised.
